Personal Finance for Soldiers
Practical Finance for Warriors
Welcome to ArmyNCO.com's personal finance pages for Soldiers. The purpose of these pages is to provide NCOs and Soldiers with practical financial advice in hopes that they can make more informed fiscal decisions. My articles will focus on financial lessons that I have learned while on active duty, as well as, financial mistakes that I have made. It is my hope that my life lessons will perhaps help my fellow Soldiers make more responsible financial choices. I also want Soldiers to be excited about their finances and recognize the true financial potential a career in the military can provide.
Disclaimer: Please be aware that I am not a professional financial planner, and will therefore only give practical generic advice. For example, I may say that I believe that it’s a good idea to invest in mutual funds early in your career; however, I will not recommend any specific funds, stocks, or any other investment medium. My advice simply stems from my own personal experiences. Using the lessons of hindsight, my financial articles will focus on monetary choices that I wish I would have made as I look back on my 20 years of military service. As always, I highly suggest consulting with a trusted financial expert to review the risks before committing any funds to a prospective investment. Finally, if you have a Soldier in need of financial help, keep the chain of command informed and place the Soldier in touch with one of the many army organizations specializing in money management, such as Army Community Service (ACS).
