Before the NCO departs the counseling session:
- Record the counseling date on the DA Form 2166-8-1 NCO Counseling Checklist/Record.
- Write any additional key points that came up during the counseling session.
- Show key points to the rated NCO and get his or her initials.
- Save NCOER with this checklist for next counseling session.
- Give NCO a copy of all counseling documentation.
