The ArmyNCO.com Vision

I created ArmyNCO.com for a number of reasons:

First and most importantly, I feel that there is a lack of professional development sites on the Internet that offer real personalized advice for NCOs and Soldiers. Most military sites simply regurgitate information that is already readily available. It is my intention to not only fill ArmyNCO.com pages with Army regulatory guidance, but also professional and personal advice based upon my years of military experience and interaction with Soldiers. For example, Army regulation dictates that leaders will regularly counsel their Soldiers. At ArmyNCO.com, however, I will not only provide the regulatory guidance, but we will also tell you how to counsel as well as provide personalized tips and insight that have worked for me throughout my military service.

Second, I wanted to create a valuable resource for all NCOs and enlisted Soldiers to use that is free of charge. I am not particularly impressed by Internet sites that offer to provide Soldiers professional development information for a price. You will never be charged at ArmyNCO.com for any of the information that I provide.

Next, I envision ArmyNCO.com as a medium for leaders at all levels to come together and share their experience and insight with others. The scope of ArmyNCO.com is greater than any one individual. I invite and encourage feedback from all my visitors. If there is something that you would like to see on the site, if you have something you would like to share with your fellow Soldiers, or if you would simply like to make suggestions for improvements, then please let me know.

Finally, I decided to start ArmyNCO.com for my own professional development. As a computer science major, I wanted to learn as much as possible about web development and the whole range of different web technologies. I decided that I didn't want to use a ready made site template or document management system when I began producing the site so ArmyNCO.com was initially developed from scratch using basic HTML. In addition, it is my intention to write my own CGI scripts to manage the forms and dynamic content of the site. Using this method, I have complete control over my content and understand exactly why things work the way they do. As my development skills improve, you can expect to see the site evolve as I begin using and experimenting with different web technologies such as Cascading Style Sheets, PHP, flash animation, java script, and java.

I definitely have my work cut out for me, but I hope that you'll share in my vision as I quite simply move forward to make ArmyNCO.com the very best resource for NCOs and Soldiers on the Internet.

Thanks,

SFC Mac
